One of the first major projects for the young Costume Committee was producing a useful Vocabulary of Basic Terms for cataloguing costume. This excellent resource was coordinated by Anne Buck, UK, one of the foremost scholars of costume history. She published the first version in Waffen- und Kostümkunde 2, München, Berlin, 1982, pp. 119-151. The basic explanations were published in “Cataloguing Costume” in the Museums Journal, December 1976, pp 109-110.

The drawings, essential for recognizing what kind of garment one has, were provided by curator Ietse Meije, the Netherlands. At present the material is in English, French and German.
